TRX Suspension Training System

Born in the NAVY SEALS:
TRX Suspension Training owes its roots and ongoing drive to the US Navy SEAL Teams - the world's finest commandos who are professional athletes of the most serious kind. Development of the TRX® Suspension Trainer™ began among these ranks as an invention of necessity. In wharf-side warehouses, urban safe-houses, on ships and inside submarines, Randy Hetrick, and his SEAL teammates searched for ways to stay in peak condition while stashed away on missions.

This is when Hetrick got the idea to develop a prototype of the TRX; Suspension Trainer. The original TRX was a training harness - a few lengths of parachute webbing hand-stitched together by boat repair tools.

The Complete Training System:
Today, TRX Suspension Training is changing the way athletes of all abilities, fitness professionals around the country, and the U.S. military perform by offering an array of bodyweight-based training products and specialized training programs.

What is Suspension Training?
Suspension Training movements are distinguished from traditional exercises in that either the users hands or feet are supported by a single anchor point while the opposite end of the body is in contact with the ground. Using the TRX, the desired percentage of bodyweight is loaded onto the targeted body zone and animated as an exercise movement. The TRXs single-point attachment provides the ideal mix of support and mobility to train strength, endurance, coordination, flexibility, power and core stability all at once across a wide range of resistance.

How Suspension Training Works:
When a body is suspended its centre of gravity seeks the lowest point to the ground. Exercising on the TRX utilizes gravity and movement to generate neuromuscular responses to changes in body position and mechanical advantage. Movements using the TRX integrate strength and balance into a single dynamic format that taxes the nervous system at a high level and maximizes the benefits of bodyweight exercise for faster results.

Benefits of Suspension Training:
TRX® Suspension Training® harnesses your own bodyweight to create resistance as you train. That's all you need - the TRX and your own body. No additional weights required.

Unlimited Versatility:
We're all unique. Not only is each individual's body built a little differently, but we each fill our lives with a mix of physical activities that can require specific training. TRX Suspension Training allows you to instantly adjust not only the level of difficulty for each exercise, but you can easily customize any workout on the fly.

Maximize your training time:
You can easily switch from exercise to exercise in less than 15 seconds. This allows you to maximize your training time and enables circuit style workouts.

Build core strength:
Killer abs are great, but more importantly, having a strong core will prevent injuries, improve posture and increase overall strength. This is because all of our movements are powered by the torso - the abs and back work together to support the spine during everyday activities and exercise. Suspension Training builds core strength with every exercise by creating an element of instability that calls on your core to provide balance and coordination.

Life doesn't happen sitting down
In real life, our bodies move to the side, backwards, forwards and diagonally. Shouldn't we train the same way? Unlike traditional weight training that tends to be linear and follow one plane of movement (sagittal), Suspension Training encourages multi-planar training (frontal, sagittal, transverse) which integrates all your motions and mimics real life movement. This will bring a muscular balance to your body, increasing performance and preventing injuries.

“TRX is incredible. Over the last 20 years, I have tried just about every fitness device that has come on the market. When you consider price, training options, indoor or outdoor use, core conditioning, and fun, nothing even comes close. I use TRX 2 - 3 times per week as part of my overall conditioning program.”

“As an NBA Strength Coach, I am always looking for training tools that will keep my athletes physically able to compete at their highest level all season long. The TRX allows our players to maintain much of their routine even when we're on the road. It's a great compliment to any training facility..”

“The TRX is one of the most unique training tools I've seen in a long time. It incorporates pure strength movements along with some of the best and most efficient core exercises... It allows us to effectively train more athletes in a shorter period of time, helping maximize the time we have with them. And, this enables us as a coaching staff to better prepare our athletes for competition. I would recommend the TRX for every strength coach, trainer and ATC out there. It takes body weight training to a completely different level.”

“I've been actively involved in developing athletes for over 25 years, and have enjoyed the opportunity of training some of the world's greatest athletes. Any time I can incorporate a training method, approach or tool that is effective in meeting my goals as a coach and the needs of the players I will do so. Yet, I will not change or add something to my work with athletes for the sake of change. In other words, the changes, additions, or adjustments I make to a player's routine need to be a positive beyond a doubt. The TRX meets all my standards and the athletic demands of our players. It allows me to train the players in a versatile, functional, unique and challenging manner. We use the (TRX) unit daily and take them on the road with us..”

“When they told me it was invented by a Navy SEAL, I knew it would be cool— It's just your body weight working against gravity, so you won't get injured. Now my wife uses one at home, and I'm addicted.”

“ I have been using the TRX system for a few weeks and in just that short time I have felt a significant difference in the way my body feels. I am able to incorporate the TRX Core Strength training with my workouts that I am doing with my teammates. In the 12 years that I have been playing professional football, I have seen many different approaches to strength training. The TRX gives me an advantage that I feel will help extend my career. By using just my body weight for the exercises, it doesn't take a toll on my joints. They get enough abuse on the field when I play. With the TRX I can train at an intense level, even when my joints are sore....”
